In 2001, Jen got laid off. While she worked her way back into a corporate role, she started buying real estate on the side, one property at a time, each one bought to cover a single monthly bill. She kept the job and kept buying. Fourteen years later, on October 23, 2015, she left corporate for good, on her own terms.
Everything since has come out of that same habit of building something and then making herself unnecessary to it. She has done it three times now. In each company she built the team, put someone else in the CEO seat, and kept the profit. It is the whole thesis of her work, and she lived it before she ever taught it.
